HRSTA AGM Meeting 2019

Dear Membership,

The Halton Region Salmon and Trout Association (HRSTA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for March 5th, 2019 at 7:00 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club (BHYC), 2514 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville, ON L6L 1H8, lower level.

Our Board of Directors encourages your attendance to witness our “Year in Review”, highlighting the accomplishments of the Association in 2018.  We are excited to share with you our progression including some key sponsorships which have been developed following past partnerships with many reputable supporters.  We even have a raffle for some incredible prizes such as an automatic inflatable Mustang M.I.T 100 PFD from SAIL and an “Autotether” overboard protection device, thanks to these two great sponsors.  The raffles are Free To Enter, but you must be in attendance on March 5th to win!

Both Autotether and SAIL are offering exclusive discounts to HRSTA members if an Autotether system or a Mustang M.I.T 100 PFD is in your plans for 2019. Upon request, discount vouchers will be made available for these two offers to all HRSTA members.

We are also pleased to announce TOWARF (Town of Oakville Water Air Rescue Force), the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit will be providing a presentation on their safety service, and proper safety management techniques while we all enjoy our time on the water.  In addition to this, we have arranged a presentation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) to speak to the current state of the fishery in Lake Ontario and answer questions you may have regarding the fish and their management within the MNRF.

Lastly, we will once again be opening up positions for members to get more involved with HRSTA by either joining our Board of Directors, participation in our various committees or simply volunteering your time to any of the various initiatives we deliver annually.  We have a full calendar of exciting events for 2019 and look forward to any extra help.

Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to the BHYC March 5th!

TORONTO — Ontario’s Government for the People has delivered on its promise and is giving back to those men and women who have sacrificed so much. As of January 1, 2019, all veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members residing in Ontario can enjoy recreational fishing across the province without having to purchase a fishing licence.

“Our government is working to show appreciation for veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members, helping make it easier and more affordable to enjoy recreational fishing,” said John Yakabuski, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Recreational fishing is a $2.2 billion industry in Ontario and an important tradition in the lives of many. With this regulatory change, all Canadian Armed Forces members – retired or still serving – can maximize their time on the water, and ice, by fishing all year round at no cost.

“Today, and everyday, we should salute the sacrifice and bravery of our service members who have defended and continue to defend the rights and freedoms we enjoy,” said Minister Yakabuski. “By allowing veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members to fish for free in Ontario’s beautiful waters and encourage more time outdoors, we are offering a token of recognition to these heroes who deserve our respect and gratitude. Thank you for your service.”

Ontario’s Government for the People continues to take steps to show Ontario’s appreciation for veterans, Canadian Armed Forces and their families.
